It is with great sadness that we must inform everyone of the passing of one of our past Presidents.

On Friday, February 26th our Past President Cathy Larkin-Richards passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.  She left behind many years of helping others that many will never forget.

Cathy Larkin-Richards served as President of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 273, Madeira Beach, FL for three consecutive years.  She also volunteered for years helping our veterans, active duty military and their families at
Bay Pines Veterans Hospital and served in many other voluntary services throughout her life.

As per her family’s wishes, there will be no funeral services, but they do plan on holding a “Celebration of Life Ceremony” in early April.  Details will be announced at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, her family would like donations to be given to the Bay Pines Fisher House:

Bay Pines Fisher House Donation, check “this donation is a tribute” in the “your donation” section, pick in “memory of” and enter Catharine Larkin-Richards and under “Make this Donation" a Tribute and send announcement to her sister:  Jane Larkin, 3482 101st Terrace N, Pinellas Park, FL 33782.

Cathy was a tireless advocate for veterans and their families.  She will be greatly missed by all her knew her.

History

Founded in 1919, The American Legion Auxiliary has almost 1 million members from all walks of life. The Auxiliary administers hundreds of volunteer programs, gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to veterans, and raises millions of dollars to support its own programs, as well as other worthwhile charities familiar to Americans. It is all accomplished with volunteers.

While originally organized to assist The American Legion, the Auxiliary has achieved its own unique identity while working side-by-side with the veterans who belong to The American Legion. Like the Legion, the Auxiliary’s interests have broadened to encompass the entire community.

The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization. Through its nearly 10,500 units located in every state and some foreign countries, the Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. Along with The American Legion, it solidly stands behind America and her ideals.

MEETINGS ARE THE FIRST TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH AT 11:00am
